If you're house hunting on Zillow, there's one simple detail that can give you a huge clue about how much competition you might be facing: the number of saves a home has.
That little heart icon next to the listing? When someone clicks it, they’re essentially saying, “I’m interested.” So when a home racks up a high number of saves—especially in a short amount of time—it often means there’s strong buyer interest. More interest usually leads to more showings, which can lead to more offers. And when demand is high, homes are more likely to sell quickly and, in many cases, above the asking price. What’s considered “a lot” of saves? It depends on your market, but if you see a listing that’s only been up for a few days and already has 100+ saves, that’s usually a red flag (or green light, depending on how you look at it).
